October 9 1929 – December 28, 2020

Eric Chang, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on December 28^th,2020.

 Eric is survived by his life long wife of 65 years Maureen , and their 4 children, Shirley, Ricky, Anita and Derek. Eric also leaves behind his sister Dorothy and 2 brothers Errol and Everton. 

Eric was born on October 9^th, 1929 in Port Antonio Jamaica to parents Doris Thorpe and Charlie Chang Seung, where he spent most of his adult life. In the late 1950’s he moved to London, England and worked as a mail sorter for the GPO, where he worked for many years until he retired. He was part of the “Jamaican post office group” where he met many of his long life friends. 

Eric was a very proud family man, loving Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Friend. He was loved by everyone he came into contact with.

He will always be remembered for his amazing talent in the kitchen, serving up traditional home made Jamaican, and Chinese Jamaican food, as well as his velvet Nat King Cole sound a like voice that we will never forget.

Eric also leaves behind his Grandchildren: Nicola, Ryan, Daniel, Jade ,Warren and Ilyan.  His Great Grandchildren Rhys, Mariah, Darcy, Brad, Louis, Sonny, Izzy, Toby and Great Great Grandchildren Logan and Arabella.

Eric’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 21^st 2021 at 11.30am at Hastings Crematorium, The Ridge, Hastings, with a Celebration of Life, to follow later in the year.
